The only difficulty and drawback with this battery was that each time it had to be charged, the battery would have to be unplugged & taken out and charged again. There will be memory effect also. After later the Nickel Hydride (NiMH) batteries are came to market. The Nickel Hydride is very less affected by the - memory effect & the battery also cheap only. The batteries had to be charged after every 20th cycle. Now we had the Lithium Ion batteries (Li-ion). Even though they are quiet costly, they have a lot of beneficial things. And these are not overwhelmed by the 'memory effect'. They need not to be fully discharged & then charged again at the time of recharging the batteries. Now in the market we had the advanced lithium polymer batteries.

It is most excellent & very best to know which type of battery is well-matched for the mobile phone utilized by you. When a mobile phone is not being used, it is very best that you take out the batteries & keep them uncharged, in a cool dry and dark place.
