The Three Kinds of Restaurant Paging Systems

Restaurant paging systems are commonly used in various restaurants and fine dining establishments, but you might wonder how they help restaurants in running their business.  Restaurant paging can be classified into three different types depending on their purpose.

The first type of restaurant paging is the waiter paging system.  This kind of system is designed to help the kitchen staff communicates with waiters outside the kitchen.  The transmitter, located in the kitchen, has several buttons, each assigned to a certain waiter.  When the kitchen staff finishes cooking an order, the chef can push a button corresponding to an available waiter to notify him or her through a vibrating handheld pager that the food is ready to be served.

This kind of paging system allows waiters to divert more time in serving and taking orders instead of running back and forth just to follow up on the status of an order.  The guests also benefit from this system since the waiters only have to leave the dining floor when getting the meals to be served, which means guests will always have someone to take orders for them.

The second type of restaurant paging, also known as guest paging system, is designed to eliminate long waiting times if a restaurant has no available tables.  Customers do not like it when they have to stand for a very long time just to wait for an available table because they get tired and bored.  By giving customers pagers, the restaurant staff can let guests roam around and do something else until they can be notified that a table is ready.

Once a dining table is ready, the host only needs to press a button for a corresponding pager.  The pager that the guests are holding will flash and vibrate, telling them that they can proceed to the dining floor and be seated.  Most restaurants with this restaurant paging system has a bar or lounge where the guests can kill time while waiting to be seated.

A third type of paging system is called push button paging system.  With this kind of restaurant paging, guests can ask assistance from waiters without having to shout or call out their name.  The guest only needs to push a button, and an available waiter will go right to their table to take further orders.  This allows faster service, improving overall customer satisfaction.
